Taking Time Out of My Sports Blogging to Rant

I know this is a blog dedicated to sports, but I feel I have the right to rant about anything I want to. Today's rant is about the Duggar family in Arkansas. Today Michelle Duggar announced that she is pregnant with child #20! Are you serious?

At first as I was reading through Facebook I was thinking, "Why is everyone complaining about her having another child?" Then I personally started thinking that having 20 kids can't be healthy at all!

I also personally feel that what the Duggar family is doing by having so many children is making a mockery of the procreative power that they were possessed with. I have never thought of it as making a mockery of something God possessed them with, but I am starting to believe that they aren't having the children because they want to or need to. I feel they are doing it for the attention.

They wouldn't have their TV show without having 19 children and one on the way. They are making lots of money by making a mockery of something that I know a lot of people wish that they could do, but can't.

So to the Duggar family... Just stop already! Isn't 20 enough?

Seriously? #8?

What a wonderful weekend this was for College Football! Especially in the SEC! Since I am an SEC homer, I am going to focus on the action it had this weekend.

#7 Arkansas vs #9 South Carolina

I am not going to lie, I am very disappointed with the most recent BCS poll that came out tonight! How did Oregon jump Arkansas? Oregon played a lack luster Washington team and beat them by 17, while Arkansas beat South Carolina, who was ranked #9 at the time, by 16. And it could have easily been more, except for a few dropped balls that would have been touchdowns.

Arkansas had the game from the opening kick off. There were a couple questionable times that had me questioning if they were going to have another slow start. I actually remember saying to my girl friend right before half time that it was weird to actually see Arkansas winning at half time.

Take away a couple of mishaps on the offensive side of the ball and we have a blowout! A dropped ball by Ronnie Wingo and then one by Cobi Hamilton would have both gone for touchdowns. And then add on the interception for a touchdown that South Carolina got given to them by Tyler Wilson. With out those, it is a 21 point swing. And the game could have been 58-21 as easily as it was really 44-28.

I would grade Arkansas an A on the game. The offense was flawless, except for the above mentioned plays. And the defense held the Gamecocks to only 207 total yards. Special teams was great with a return for a touchdown by Dennis Johnson and and a sub par night for Zach Hocker, only connecting on 3/5 field goals.

I am upset with the latest polls, but with a big week ahead for several schools in front of Arkansas. I expect to see them move up more, assuming that Arkansas wins. And hopefully it will be big.

#1 LSU vs #2 Alabama

LSU won in the defensive battle of the decade, 9-6. I don't really have much to say, other then both defenses looked amazing. And both offenses looked horrible. And Alabama's special teams looks worse then the Cleveland Cavs last year when they were on their NBA record setting losing streak.

I think Alabama gave the game to LSU. The offense didn't show up. And the kickers must have had cramps when he went to kick the ball.

I look forward to watching LSU and Arkansas on November 25th. Mark my word, it will be a lot closer than people expect!

What to look for this next weekend?

#15 Georgia and #20 Auburn looks to be an interesting game. Georgia has a lot riding on this game. If they lose then it puts South Carolina in the drivers seat in the SEC East. But if they win, you can pretty much assume they are going to the SEC Championship game.

The 3 top teams in the SEC; LSU, Arkansas, Alabama will all have simple games this week. Don't look for any upsets among these three.

Outside of the SEC I am looking forward to two matched. #4 Stanford vs #7 Oregon. And #5 Boise State vs TCU.

There are obvious reasons I am interested in Stanford and Oregon, it's the game of the week. And one of them have to lose, and personally I have a feeling it will be Stanford. And the other game is just the only real challenge Boise State has left this season. It was about the same week last season that Boise State lost to Nevada. I am not calling an upset, but I do put this game on an upset alert and a fun game to watch.

That's all for this episode. Thanks for tuning in! Feel free to leave any comment or feedback!

Arkansas Wins Exhibition Basketball Game! 97-80

WELCOME HOME MIKE ANDERSON! It's time to turn a new leaf in Arkansas Basketball and welcome back one of the contributing sources to the 1994 Arkansas Razorback NationalChampionship! I am excited to have Mike Anderson back as the coach for our basketball team and can't wait to see what he can do.

I don't expect Arkansas to be great the first year under Anderson, but I do expect to see some competitive basketball on all levels. Something that was missed the past few seasons under Pelphrey. I have been a fan of Mike Anderson since his days at University of Alabama at Birmingham, then Missouri, and now back to Arkansas! I love the way he has always been able to get into the untapped potential of all of his players and make them compete at such a high level all year long!

Arkansas 97, Texas A&M Commerce 80

Razorback fans, don't fear. Yes, I am aware that we won an exhibition game, so it isn't a reason to get all excited for. But this game makes a new era, an era of change for Arkansas Basketball. An era that will put us back on the map as a Basketball Powerhouse, like we were in the 90s under Nolan Richardson!

I didn't listen to the game, or watch it. So I only have the box score and highlights to go from, so I hope I can do the game justice.

After a sluggish start, Arkansas finished the game on a 19-6 run over the last 5 minutes of the game. I guess it is a trend around Fayetteville for sports teams to start slow and finish strong. Arkansas forced 25 turnovers, due in large parts to the full court press that comes along with Mike Anderson! Welcome back 40 Minutes of Hell! My how I have missed you! In my opinion that is how basketball should be played, going up and down the court as fast as possible, that is the best chance that teams have to win, when their talent may not be up to par with other teams. By creating havoc on the court, it forces the other team to play out of their element and come into the element that you create for them!

Arkansas was led in scored by Mardracus Wade, who went a perfect 6-6, which includes 3-3 on 3 point shooting. And Freshman Rashad Madden has 18. Two other Razorbacks were in double figures.

I am excited for basketball season, and now I am finally excited for RAZORBACK BASKETBALL! I am proud to be a HOG and

Almost 24 hours from Arkansas, South Carolina kick off!!!

I can’t explain how excited I am for Saturday. I know I just posted something last night about it,
but man I want to see the football games this Saturday. Especially the Arkansas, South Carolina game! I truly believe it will be a better game than the Alabama, LSU game. I just don’t see how LSU can hold up offensively or defensively against such a solid and sound team like Alabama. I believe that
Alabama could beat some of the worst NFL teams, or at least give them a run for their money.

I am looking for Arkansas to come out on fire, they need to put the doubters doubts away by not having a slow start. Luckily for Arkansas, South Carolina has had a lack of early dominance as well, not scoring first in any of their games. Arkansas is fully capable of putting a lot of points on the

board, and putting them up fast! If Arkansas can put together 4 quarters, I expect Arkansas to dominate this game. They have definitely shown signs of dominance in almost every game, but they have been short lived spurts. And usually they have been in the 2nd Half.

South Carolina is at a disadvantage also because they are a much younger and much more
inexperienced team. They have had some troubles within
the team, such as former starting QB, Stephen Garcia, being cut from the team. With so much turmoil on the team it takes a truly outstanding coach to pull the season he is. And who else could do it, except Steve Spurrier?

If South Carolina pulls out the victory, it will be because of two reasons. Either Arkansas shoots themselves in the foot by not performing for more than a quarter or two. Or Steve Spurrier has some tricks up his sleeve and is ready to pull out all the tricks on one night to be a far better and battle tested Arkansas team. As far as I know a Razorback would always win in a fight against a Gamecock!

BRING ON SATURDAY!!!
